Bernie Bowl
NOVEMBER
Bernie Bowl was created in memory of SFU Quarterback, Bernd Dittrich. Who passed away on November 11, 2009. The first annual Bernie Bowl was created in 2011 by SFU Football alumnus Mark Bailey. The event was established to honour Bernd’s memory and support SFU student athletes in his name.
Every year the event is annually held on Fox Field at the SFU Burnaby campus and is always held on the day that Bernd passed away, November 11th.
The event consists of a touch football tournament where all are welcome to play. Teams are randomly drawn and each team competes for a chance to hoist the Bernie Cup! Generally each team consists of 8-10 people and the number of teams depends on the number of registered participants. Each team is guaranteed three games minimum, followed by a playoff.
We encourage SFU alumni, and all football communities to come out and tackle some fun for a great cause!
Registration is $30.00 and all proceeds go directly to Bernies’ Scholarship.
